Synopsis

A comedy centered around an illiterate kid who looks to become a contestant on the Hindi version of Who Wants to be A Millionaire in order to re-establish contact with the girl he loves, who is an ardent fan of the show.

Boyle talks about how unaware American culture is of Indian culture and wanting to collaborate with Jack White, of the White Stripes. He also discusses being an Oscar candidate and what he thinks of his competitors. 'Slumdog Millionaire' is out in theaters January 7 2009.

    “…Control is an illusion. If you hang on to that concept, you will be destroyed by the place. You'll spend your whole budget chasing it and you'll leave with no film. We'd shoot a street and the next day it would be like you returned to the wrong place. The chances of people you hire turning up the next day are arbitrary. You think there's no pattern, but there are patterns and structures, just not visible to a Westerner…”

    Director Danny Boyle takes some time out to chat with Times Online on his latest film "Slumdog Millionaire". Boyle shares he was actually reluctant to direct the TIFF award winner "Slumdog Millionaire", but how his mind changed when he read Simon Beaufoy's script.  From then on, Boyle has gone to make yet another successful film which he feels is more spiritually inclined. "Slumdog Millionaire" is out in cinemas January 7th 2009. 

    "...Certainly, I feel that the temperature of the film is appropriate to my reaction to the place [Mumbai], which is that I loved it desperately. And loved the people..."
